PRP Facial Injections / PRP and Microneedling

Platelet Rich Plasma, referred to as PRP, comes from your own blood that is processed to concentrate your platelets. The PRP is then introduced into the facial tissue via a micro-needling device, the SkinPen, where it can get deeper into the skin to activate growth factors to create new blood vessels and collagen to heal and rejuvenate the tissue.
The microneedle creates tiny openings in the skin, which allows the PRP to penetrate deeper into the dermal-epidermal junction. Platelets are reservoirs for growth factors and they also attract your body’s natural stem cells. This action creates collagen and uses the growth factors in the PRP to promote new cell growth, new blood vessels, collagen production, elastin production, and to remove photo damage. Most people notice tighter skin and a lessening of visible wrinkles along with improved texture, tone and color.

How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments will vary according to the condition being treated, skin’s laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to treatment. Most people see results after 4 weeks and this continues to improve over the course of the following 8-12 weeks. Best results are seen with 3-4 treatments.
What are the side effects and risks involved?
Because the PRP is derived from your own blood this procedure is associated with little to no risks or side effects. Extreme care is taken to clean your skin prior to the procedure.
Redness, moderate swelling, and discomfort in the treatment area are common, these usually resolve after 24-48 hours after the treatment.

It is important to wear sun protection and avoid direct light for at least 2 weeks after treatment.

It is advised to avoid sweating for 24 hours after treatment.
Can anyone get PRP?
As with a majority of cosmetic procedures, this treatment should not be used on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
